Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter were buzzing after their 2-1 away win against Aston Villa on Saturday, and many urged manager Jos Luhukay to keep starting Steven Fletcher after he headed in the winner.
After a cagey first half at Villa Park, Wednesday winger Marco Matias broke the deadlock with a strike from the edge of the box early on in the second period.
Just four minutes later though, Villa midfielder John McGinn, a summer signing from Scottish side Hibernian, unleashed a long-range left-footed volley that swerved from right to left before cannoning off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net to equalise.
However, it was the Owls who had the last laugh as experienced striker Fletcher headed in Joel Pelupessy’s cross with 23 minutes remaining, and the visitors took all three points.
Fletcher’s goal was his second in two games after he scored Wednesday’s only goal in the loss to Nottingham Forest. Check out some of the best tweets in reaction to the 31-year-old’s performance below.
