When Ryan Fredericks was signed in the summer, West Ham United fans may have thought that Pablo Zabaleta would take a back seat.
It has been quite the opposite, with the former Manchester City star impressing on the pitch in Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Fredericks is expected to be on the sidelines for three months with an injury, which means that Zabaleta will be the only viable option for the Hammers.
At the age of 33, though, the Argentina international is edging towards the end of his career.
If the right-back decides to hang up his boots at the end of the season, then the Hammers may have to line up a replacement to challenge Fredericks.
