[ad_pod ]Leeds have lost two attacking midfielders in the space of a couple of days, but one fan’s unique idea to solve the problem could just be the perfect solution.
The Chalkboard
Samuel Saiz is officially all set to join Getafe, with both clubs announcing his loan move earlier this week.
The Spaniard’s exit has coincided with another injury for Izzy Brown, who complained of a tight hamstring during an Under-23 match on Monday.
While it is good news that the youngster hasn’t aggravated his knee injury, it means the Whites are still without a true number ten, and one fan thinks Kemar Roofe could be the man to fill the void.
Would it work?
Roofe never really seemed to fit the system under Thomas Christiansen or Paul Heckingbottom, but the 25 year-old has become a superb goalscorer under Marcelo Bielsa.
Despite his ten Championship goals this season though, he is not exactly a classic number nine, something that the returning Patrick Bamford definitely is. Bamford is taller, stronger, and much more comfortable playing with his back to goal, so could Roofe play just behind the summer signing?
Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...
The ex-Oxford United star certainly has the mobility, link-up play and work ethic to play slightly deeper, and having two natural goalscorers on the pitch could make all the difference in tight contests like Saturday’s win at Bolton.
Why not Pablo?
Plenty of fans have suggested moving Pablo Hernandez to a central position, allowing the likes of Jack Clarke and Gjanni Alioski to take his place on the wing.
However, Hernandez is Leeds’ most influential attacking player and one of the league’s brightest stars, so shoehorning him into an unnatural position would not be Bielsa’s smartest decision.
The Spaniard has seven goals and seven assists already this season, and being on the wing allows him much more space to use his incredivle vision and wand of a right foot.
So, Leeds fans, do you think Roofe could drop into a number 10 position? Or should it be Pablo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below…
