da wazamba: In recording three consecutive scoreless draws in their last three Premier League outings, Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United clearly go down as a side in need of some added fire-power this January.
da mrbet: Although the Hammers back-line nonetheless deserve credit for grinding out the results in recent weeks, the Upton Park faithful could be on the end of a further slide down the league table if their side’s fortunes don’t improve in front of goal sooner rather than later – especially with the likes of Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll currently missing from the first team fold.
So then, as the East-End club saw themselves heavily linked with the services of Simone Zaza this summer, is it time Slaven Bilic returned for the Italian international before the closure of the January transfer window?

Well, if his previous form in the Italian Serie A is to offer anything to go by – Zaza could very well develop a successful career in the Premier League if circumstances allow this winter. The confident front-man certainly displays a keen eye for goal in one on one situations, his hold-up play inside the final third has been promising , and the 24-year-old’s physical strength also serves to impress on most given occasions.
Simone Zaza has failed to set the Italian game alight since completing his recent move to Juventus however, as each of Paulo Dybala, Alvaro Morata and Mario Mandzukic remain firmly ahead of him in the pecking order down in Turin this season.
The player himself will likely be hopeful of securing a spot at Euro 2016 this summer with the Italian national side, so maybe a January move could well be on the cards for Zaza.
With the majority of his finest attacking outlets left out injured at this particular stage in the proceedings, Slaven Bilic has been forced to make do with a series of back-up players in recent weeks – and West Ham have largely failed to do the business in front of goal as a result.
Nikica Jelavic has put in all the required effort any reasonable Hammers fan could have asked for this season, but as has often been the case for Andy Carroll in the claret & blue as well of late, the team simply look void of goal-scoring threat whenever he’s been given the chance to lead line this season.
Although both Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet could potentially return to first team action sooner than expected for West Ham, with Bilic also highlighting the need to sell certain players before any more fresh talent can be brought in at Upton Park this January – the possible capture of Simone Zaza could still serve to bring the good times back at the Boleyn Ground this season.
The Premier League club were reportedly interested in the Italian striker’s services before the current campaign even got underway of course – and as West Ham’s predicament within their often ill-fated striking department has only worsened since then – maybe the Hammers will be forced to act this winter one way or another.
However, as Juventus have supposedly placed a whopping £21 million transfer fee on Zaza’s head this season, maybe no such deal will eventually be taking place for West Ham in the end. At least not permanently.
The 24-year-old centre-forward could still be available on a loan basis of course, but only if Slaven Bilic can pragmatically free up space within his current ranks that is. The newly installed Hammers boss may be able to tie down Manuel Lanzini on a long-term option this January, allowing someone like Zaza to potentially step in at the Boleyn Ground when the opportunity arises.
So then, although this reported transfer target may not be able to arrive on a permanent deal down at Upton Park any time soon, West Ham should at least consider the possible signing of Simone Zaza in 2015/16 – even if the promising Italian admittedly only comes in on a last minute loan move at best.
